JOB TITLE: Assistant to Shift Manager

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Second Shift Manager

SUPERVISES: Oversees various activities as directed by shift manager

EMPLOYEE STATUS: Non-exempt, hourly

PURPOSE: The Assistant to Shift Manager shall assist in instructional and supervisory duties in various areas of work as directed.

AREA OF PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITY: The primary program area of responsibility is within the Medical Products production functions of Haywood Vocational Opportunities, Inc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1) Train production employees on new jobs, assist with work skills and teach work tolerances. Follow-up is also required.
2) Assist to see that work training schedules and production schedules are met.
3) Become knowledgeable with all specifications of the products within the department in which the instructor works.
4) Promptly advise immediate supervisor of any issues that may arise in carrying out above responsibilities.
5) Must be aware of applicable HVO safety rules and regulations.
6) Assist in other departments as necessary
7) Shall take responsibility as instructor/supervisor as requested.
8) Assemble medical products as needed
9) Must be familiar with FDA and ISO standards as it relates to HVO’s quality system.
10) Serve as a role model to demonstrate good work habits and behaviors.
11) Shall assume the primary responsibilities of the shift manager in the event of their absence.
12) Perform non-routine tasks as requested by immediate supervisor.
13) Perform in-process inspections in a routine manner.

GENERAL DUTIES:

1) Be willing to attend recommended training as requested.
2) Be active on assigned committees as needed.
3) Comply with HVO rules and regulations.

MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS/PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

One year production experience or knowledge of production techniques and ability to work with persons with disabilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Associate Degree in a related field with supervisory experience including knowledge of production techniques.
